This workshop will run the 3rd Sunday of every month. \nTopics include (but not limited to): \n~ Learn what to expect in each stage of the labor process to ease your mind through birth. Learn to Identify the stages of labor and when to move to your birth space. \n~ Finding the Best Provider For Your Family: How to choose or change providers. Learn the difference between supportive and tolerant and what questions to ask. \n~ What to expect during prenatal visits: tests\, ultrasounds\, test results\, options and alternatives \n~ Birth preferences: knowing your options and writing a birth plan\, learn what to expect in your birthing environment \n~ Common interventions and conversation surrounding decision making: Learn skills to help you effectively communicate your choices to your birth team. \n~ Coping and comfort measures in labor (dress comfortably\, we will be moving around!) \n~ Mental and emotional endurance and re-framing fear surrounding birth \n~ Options for newborn procedures and care \n~ Preparing for postpartum \nThis workshop is co-taught by two of WNY’s birth professionals. Both members of Buffalo Doula Collective\, Melissa Carrick is a birth doula\, placenta specialist\, massage therapist and yoga instructor. She also comes from a 12 year background in the medical field where she worked and taught as a surgical technologist. Jenni Kula is birth doula\, CD(DONA)\, a postpartum doula\, and a ProDoula certified childbirth educator. She has served the WNY community for over two years.
